At the age of 23, DeeDee Kindley faced the most fearful and challenging experience of her life. She was diagnosed with a tumor, the size of a large grapefruit, wrapped around her heart. Encountering many trials and tribulations, DeeDee found purpose and meaning in her diagnosis. With a core desire to live, she summoned courage and strength from within her to confront emotionally and physically difficult circumstances while maintaining an unwavering belief in her ability to live. Heart Knots ~ The Story of a True Survivor details her experience of being diagnosed with cancer, how she fought for recovery, relationships she developed along the way and how she survived. It is based on a journal she kept during her nine day stay in the hospital and throughout her experience and was written with hope of letting cancer patients know they are not alone and there are actions they can take to fight for their recovery. It includes three sections. Part one details her story and, through a passionate desire to live life, is a testimony to the human spirit. Part two demystifies the disease and includes what DeeDee believes her "secrets" of survival to be, cancer facts and fiction including how therapeutic support groups affect survival, and describes the role of an active patient. The last section includes resources for cancer patients and their families or caregivers.

About the Author. . .
With many people doubting if she would live to see the age of 24, DeeDee Kindley is a cancer survivor of 17 years. She has been married to her best friend, the man she met just two and a half months prior to her diagnosis, for 16
years. They have two healthy children together . . . Children who doctors gave her a 50/50 chance of having
after chemotherapy.
Two years after her diagnosis, DeeDee went on to earn a Master of Science in Counseling
Psychology. She became a Career Counselor for a large organization working in her fantasy job of helping
people truly live their lives by helping them figure out their
passion in life and create a path to go about doing it. Knowing how precious life is, she left
the job she loved several years ago after giving birth to her first baby to be a
full-time mom. With school-age children, she returned to the workforce as a Consultant
to individuals and organizations interested in Career Development and is a
Career/Life Planning College Professor. DeeDee finds
meaning and purpose in her work as she helps her clients and students live and
work according to their interests, personality type, and values. Volunteering her time over the
years, she has given presentations about her experience of surviving cancer to
community organizations, high schools, and colleges. Additionally, she has helped newly
diagnosed cancer patients with their emotional aspects of cancer.
DeeDee pursues her
passion in life by raising her family and helping her clients and students
create meaningful and happy lives. She's writing a book entitled The Key
to Happiness ~ A Career & Life Planning Guide to Unlocking Your Life
Passion & Living It. She
followed her dream of publishing Heart Knots ~ The Story of a True Survivor
with the hope of letting cancer patients know they are not alone and encouraging
them to fight and survive their battles with cancer.
