JORDAN TOLIVER ASHLEY (FRANKLIN/FRANCIS M.2, JORDAN1)
was born 1847-9 in Hazard KY., d. after 1920 in Knott Co., KY. He married
SARAH/SALLY HURT. She was born 1836.
Jordan served in the 5th Kentucky Mounted Rifles (CSA).

W. PRIDEMORE, January 19, 1889, son of THOMAS PRIDEMORE and SARAH/SALLY WATTS.

February 17, 1950, m. MARY "POLLY" PRIDEMORE, daughter of THOMAS PRIDEMORE
and SARAH/SALLY WATTS.
iii. EVALINE ASHLEY , b. Abt. 1874; m. VOLUNTINE JR. MULLINS, son of VOLUNTINE MULLINS and MATILDA WATTS.
iv. FRANCIS MILTON ASHLEY, b. December 29, 1875,
d. December 06, 1928; m. MATILDA MULLINS, daughter of DANIEL MULLINS and

Born: "Letcher County, KY. (Now Knott) 1844
States he owned no property, Dock Maddin testifies that that is true, S.B.
Maddin testifies that Jordan owns nothing but ten head of hog.
Dr. J.W. Duke testifies Jordan had partial loss of site and hearing, and
rheumatism.
Enlisted in fall of 1862 at Whitesburg under General Marshall, Colonel
Ben Caudill, Captain William Smith; Company I of the 5th KY
Regiment
Daniel Smith, Hiram Combs and John McKee state that they served with
Jordan.
Discharge: In April of 1865 Jordan's unit was on march to Richmond
to join General Lee.
At some point they were informed that Lee had surrendered. Jordan states
that this occurred near Abbington, VA on the application. Jordan and
John McKee say near Appomattox, VA on additional affidavits.
Hiram Combs' affidavit says on the head of Carr's Fork, now Knott
County.
Upon hearing Lee had surrendered, the unit was disbanded.
Took oath of allegiance to the U.S. Government: "Compelled to do so
at Louisa, Ky same spring I was disbanded 1865"
Pension was allowed on October 15, 1914.
